NEET-UG A major cheating gang has been busted in Godhra, Gujarat, in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam. The scam has taken place in the country’s biggest medical entrance exam, and the police have arrested several persons involved in the case.
Scam exposed and preliminary information
The scam was exposed through personal information received by the Godhra District Collector. Based on the information received by the District Magistrate, a team of the District Collectorate and District Education Officer conducted an investigation at the NEET examination center. During the investigation, Rs 7 lakh in cash was recovered from the vehicle of the accused teacher. The main accused in this case is Parshuram Roy, who runs a coaching center in Vadodara.
Main accused and his role
NEET-UG Parshuram Roy, who runs a company called Roy Overseas in Vadodara, operated this scam through Arif Vahora of BJP Minority Morvi in Godhra. Parshuram sent the details of 26 students to Tushar Bhatt, a teacher at Jai Jalaram School in Godhra, through Arif. Out of these, 6 students were taking the exam at one center of Jai Jalaram School in Godhra and the remaining 20 students were taking the exam at another center of Jai Jalaram School.
Process of cheating and financial transactions
Parshuram Roy told these students to leave any questions if they did not know the answer. After the exam was over, Tushar Bhatt was going to fill those questions. Rs 10 lakh was demanded from each student for this entire work. Thus, the accused teacher was going to get Rs 26 crore on completion of the entire scam.
Police action and investigation
The District Education Officer has filed a complaint against three accused in the Godhra Taluka Police Station. The complaint includes the names of Tushar Bhatt, a teacher at Jai Jalaram School in Godhra, Parshuram Roy, owner of Roy Overseas in Vadodara, and Arif Vora of Godhra. On May 5, the Panchmahal collector conducted a raid and seized Rs 7 lakh in cash and a car. The police also revealed that the students had given cheques worth Rs 2.82 crore to Parshuram Roy and Tushar Bhatt.
New revelations in the investigation
The police investigation has revealed transactions worth crores of rupees between 12 students, their guardians and the convicted persons. Four students deposited Rs 66 lakh in the bank account of Roy Overseas Company run by Parshuram Roy of Vadodara. The students also gave cheques worth Rs 2.82 crore to Tushar Bhatt and Parshuram Roy. The investigation also revealed that three students gave blank cheques to Bhatt and Roy, indicating a huge monetary transaction for alleged malpractice in the NEET exam.
The future course of action
The police are now trying to ascertain whether the students and their guardians were involved in this cheating conspiracy. Based on the investigation, charges will be filed against those involved in the scam. This scam has emerged as a serious challenge in the efforts to maintain the integrity of entrance examinations across the country. This campaign is being conducted to address this widespread issue of academic dishonesty.
